Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications
  • Attach components and adjust new farm equipment
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work
  • Perform repair work on heavy trucks
  • Perform other routine maintenance

Job Duties

  • Inspects combines, forage harvesters, tractors, balers and other agricultural and heavy equipment for proper performance; identifies faults and malfunctions to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation
  • Diagnoses mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic faults using computerized diagnostic tools and testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required
  • Adjusts equipment and repairs or replaces defective parts, components, and systems using hand and power tools, in accordance with manufacturer specifications
  • Tests and verifies equipment performance following service and repair to ensure work meets manufacturer specifications and safety standards
  • Cleans, lubricates, and performs preventative maintenance and routine maintenance work on agricultural and heavy equipment
  • May perform repair and maintenance work on heavy trucks as required
  • May attach components and adjust new farm equipment to ensure proper setup and operation

Other: Journeyperson Agricultural or Heavy Equipment (Agricultural Equipment) certification pref’d; Previous experience servicing agricultural or heavy equipment req’d; Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems; Experience completing inspections, work orders, and service documentation
