Public Works Operator II
The Village of Warfield is seeking applications for the position of Public Works Operator II.
This is a regular full-time position within the Village’s Public Works department and is covered by the CUPE Local 2087 bargaining unit. The position reports to, and receives direction from, the Public Works Foreman.
The Public Works Operator II is a senior public works position responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of municipal infrastructure, including roads, drainage, water, wastewater, parks, facilities, municipal vehicles, tools, equipment, and heavy equipment. The position also participates in snow and ice control, utility response, and other Public Works operations as required.
The successful applicant will have significant experience and knowledge in municipal public works operations and must be able to safely operate tools, equipment, vehicles, and heavy equipment in a municipal environment.
Required qualifications include, but are not limited to:
- Valid B.C. Class 3 driver’s licence;
- Experience operating heavy equipment;
- Knowledge of municipal infrastructure operation and maintenance;
- Knowledge of WorkSafeBC requirements and safe work practices;
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in all weather conditions;
- Ability to work cooperatively with employees, contractors, and the public;
- Available to work overtime and to take on-call duties as required.
Relevant EOCP certification, public works experience, and other related training or certifications will be considered assets or may be required in accordance with the job description and Collective Agreement. The detailed job description can be found on the Village’s website at www.warfield.ca .
