Material Science Specialist (AI Training)

About The Role

What if your deep expertise in semiconductor materials or molecular modeling could directly shape how AI reasons about the physical world? We're looking for Materials Science specialists — Masters and PhD holders — to work with cutting-edge AI research teams, helping build models that genuinely understand advanced scientific concepts.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for researchers and domain experts who want to put their knowledge to work beyond the lab — on a schedule that fits their life.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Develop, solve, and critically review advanced material science problems with real-world scientific relevance
  • Apply your expertise in semiconductor materials, molecular modeling, or related domains to design complex, rigorous problem statements
  • Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to sharpen AI model reasoning in your field
  • Ensure scientific accuracy, clarity, and depth across all deliverables
  • Help push the frontier of what AI understands about materials science

Who You Are

  • Holds a Master's or PhD in Material Science or a closely related discipline
  • Deep expertise in semiconductor materials, molecular modeling, or adjacent areas
  • Comfortable coding in Python or MATLAB — whether from research, coursework, or projects
  • Exceptional written communicator who can translate complex science into clear, structured content
  • Detail-oriented and rigorous — you hold your work to a high standard
  • Currently based in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, or New Zealand

Nice to Have
