Role Description
The Junior Camp Facilitator (Volunteer Position) is a part-time ot full-time, on-site role based in Vaughan, ON. This position supports the delivery of wellness-focused camps and workshops for children and youth, assisting senior facilitators in setting up activities, preparing materials, and guiding participants through creative, hands-on projects.
Day-to-day responsibilities include welcoming and engaging campers, maintaining a safe and inclusive environment, helping manage schedules and transitions between activities, and supporting clean-up and organization of camp spaces.
The Junior Camp Facilitator collaborates with the wellness team to encourage positive group dynamics, model respectful behavior, and reinforce program goals related to self-care, creativity, and personal growth. This volunteer role offers practical experience in wellness education, event facilitation, and youth engagement in a supportive studio setting.
Qualifications
- Ability to engage and support children and youth in group settings, including basic classroom or camp management and creating an inclusive, respectful environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with campers, caregivers, and team members, including active listening and clear, compassionate guidance.
- Organizational skills to assist with activity setup, materials preparation, scheduling, and maintaining a clean, safe workspace throughout camp sessions.
- Interest in wellness, creative arts, and DIY projects, with a willingness to learn about workshop facilitation techniques.
- Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to follow directions, work collaboratively, and take initiative in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
- Availability for part-time or full-time on-site volunteer hours in Vaughan, ON during camp periods, including potential evenings as needed.
- Previous experience volunteering or working with children, camps, or community programs is an asset but not required.
- Comfort adhering to health, safety, and studio policies; successful completion of any required background checks or clearances.
