Project Biologist - Biodiversity

This posting is being used to staff one permanent .8 FTE position working 60 hours biweekly.

Your role

As the Project Biologist – Biodiversity, you’ll support our vision and values through development, coordination, and delivery of projects within the department’s Biodiversity program.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this opportunity, you’ll need to demonstrate how you meet the following qualifications in your resume.   • A university degree in wildlife biology, ecology, zoology, or a related discipline;
  • Substantial experience in advanced data analyses using GIS and R software;
  • Considerable experience in report writing, including peer-reviewed reports or publications;
  • Experience coordinating wildlife-related field projects, using non-invasive and capture-mark-recapture methods;
  • Experience in coordinating and managing wildlife sample collection in a laboratory; and
  • Experience procuring and maintaining scientific and other equipment and supplies.

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the above qualifications may be equally considered.

Knowledge, Skills and Suitability

To support key objectives and strategic/operational needs of this position, candidates will be assessed on the following:

  • Strong working knowledge of Yukon wildlife;
  • Ability to design and conduct wildlife studies or surveys;
  • Ability to interpret and communicate scientific results in written formats;
  • Ability to manage multiple, changing priorities and problem solve;
  • Effective project management skills;
  • Ability to maintain relationships within and outside of government; and
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with others while also operating with minimal oversight
