Irving Shipbuilding is seeking a dynamic and creative Outreach and Engagement Specialist to help elevate our brand, strengthen relationships, and showcase the impact of our work under Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy.
In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of telling our story - connecting with communities, government stakeholders, industry partners, and the public through meaningful engagement and compelling communications. You’ll lead initiatives that build awareness, foster pride in our workforce, and reinforce Irving Shipbuilding’s reputation as a leader in Canada’s marine industry.

- Deliver exceptional experiences by coordinating and facilitating shipyard tours for government officials, partners, students, media, and other guests—showcasing our people, projects, and capabilities.
- Create impactful content including social media posts, presentations, and newsletters that bring Irving Shipbuilding’s story to life.
- Develop and execute engagement strategies that strengthen relationships with communities, industry stakeholders, and partners.
- Collaborate across teams to plan and deliver communications and outreach initiatives aligned with business objectives.
- Support government and industry engagement by preparing briefing materials, presentations, and communications.
- Manage donations and sponsorships, ensuring alignment with corporate priorities while building meaningful community partnerships.
- Identify storytelling opportunities that highlight our people, achievements, and contributions to Canada’s shipbuilding industry.
A degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Political Science, Business, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in outreach, communications, or stakeholder engagement.
Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills with a knack for storytelling.
Proven experience developing and executing community engagement strategies.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders.
A collaborative mindset with the ability to build relationships across diverse audiences.
Graphic design experience (e.g., Canva or InDesign) is considered an asset
Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
