Rate: $38.83-$45.87

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, the Human Resources Officer provides support in various human resources functions, including but not restricted to disability support, attendance support, employee wellness, health and safety, recruitment, selection and reporting. The Human Resources Officer will work with employees with occupational and non-occupational illness or injury, including the return to work process. The Human Resources Officer will review and advise on compliance with collective agreements, employment contracts and current related legislation. The Human Resources Officer will implement WSIB processes, and develop, deliver and monitor training programs. Occasional travel throughout the jurisdiction of the Board may be required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A college diploma in Human Resources or a related field of study, or equivalent;
  • A Canadian Human Resources Professional certification will be considered an asset;
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the jurisdiction of the Board;
  • In depth knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, the Human Rights Code and the Employment Standards Act;
  • A minimum of two to five years of related work experience;
  • Excellent written and oral communication, presentation, organization, time management, problem-solving and record keeping skills;
  • Strong sense of initiative, sound judgment, effective interpersonal skills, as well as a high degree of discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive information;
  • Computer literacy with various software including word processors, spreadsheets and a human resources information system;

The names of three (3) professional references are required, including a current immediate supervisor.
