MVSH Finance Manager (Competition #MVSHFM)

MAIN DUTIES
- Supervise and support the Accounts Payable Administrator and Accounting Coordinator.
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and review financial transactions for accuracy and compliance.
- Coordinate month-end and year-end processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, working papers, and audit preparation.
- Assist with the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial planning.
- Prepare financial reports and analyses for leadership to support informed decision-making.
- Complete GST filings and government reporting requirements while ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Maintain strong internal controls, financial policies, and accounting procedures.
- Support asset management, contract administration, and records management.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and support technology and system enhancements.
- Collaborate with leaders across the organization to provide financial guidance and support organizational goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation preferred; candidates actively working toward CPA certification will also be considered.
- Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting, budgeting, and month-end/year-end processes.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, and financial reporting standards.
- Experience with GST reporting, audit preparation, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency with accounting software, Microsoft Excel, and other business applications.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Must have a clear and current criminal record check.
SCHEDULE
- Part-time, permanent position.
- Primarily office-based with occasional travel to other organizational locations as required.
- Some flexibility may be required during month-end, year-end, audit periods, and other peak operational times.
