Position: Youth Worker

Position Status
This is a full time temporary vacancy to work with male youth to begin ASAP for approximately 3 months. This vacancy may be terminated early if the regular incumbent returns or it may be extended if the regular incumbent’s leave is extended.
Qualifications
Preferred: Child and Youth Worker Diploma from an accredited College or University
H.B.S.W., B.S.W., B.A. Sociology or Psychology, Onajigawin Indigenous Services Diploma, Social Services Worker Diploma, Developmental Service Worker Diploma.
Knowledge and Skills
- Applicants must have an awareness of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
- Applicants must have a demonstrated ability in the following: 1. Above average verbal skills; 2. Ability to confront youth in a consistent and constructive manner; 3. Above average interpersonal skills; 4. Ability to control and stimulate groups of adolescents 5. Completion of Crisis Intervention certification and ability to deploy physical intervention techniques.
- Possession of a valid Ontario Drivers License and current First Aid Certificate;
- Clear Police check;
- Must be able to work shift work.
Salary: As per OPSEU Collective Agreement range from $31.49 to $35.06 per hour
