The Senior Specialist, Regional First Nations Data Governance & Standards position is a new role and it will be partnered with the FNHA central Research & Knowledge Exchange department.

Title: Senior Specialist, Regional First Nations Data Governance & Standards

Salary: $91,172 - $107,261 - $123,351 per year (pay range explained below)

Contract: 2 year Term

Hours: Regular, 37.5 hours per week (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)

Location: Fraser Salish Region - any office in Fraser Salish region (Surrey office, Abbotsford office or Chilliwack office) , Hybrid (Hybrid working is an option in line with FNHA’s flex work policy)

About The Role

As Senior Specialist, Regional First Nations Data Governance & Standards you will collaborates with directors, managers, public health, clinical and technical teams and vendors to understand, analyze and document the data governance standards and business requirements and translate them into functional requirements. This role actively involves designing and communicating complex data governance standards workflow analysis, drafting business cases and documentation, supporting enterprise and regional reporting, and supporting community data governance standards engagement.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have-

Education & Occupational Certification, Experience (REQUIRED)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Data Management, Healthcare Administration or related field required or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • 3-5 years’ of experience in data governance, data analysis or data management, preferably in a healthcare setting

Education & Occupational Certification (ASSET - not required to complete)

  • Appropriate certifications and other professional development/continuing education relevant to the role are preferred (e.g. CBAP)

Experience

  • FNHA values a combination of lived First Nations governance experience, cultural knowledge, and applied community work, alongside formal education, training, or technical experience. Candidates with strong community accountability and governance grounding are encouraged to apply, even if their career path has not followed a conventional technical route.
  • Proficiency in data governance tools and strong knowledge of SQL and data quality assessment techniques
  • Proven experience in translating technical requirements into clear, accessible information for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Healthcare experience is considered an asset
  • Experience in working with First Nations is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience providing training/orientation to adults on new technology and concepts.
  • Displays cultural knowledge, and an understanding of cultural safety, humility and lateral kindness.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills.

The Pay Range is the minimum and maximum annual salary based on full time equivalent hours.

Incumbents are typically hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on their knowledge, skills, abilities and experience in relation to the role requirements.

The top 10% of the pay range is for the incumbents who are industry experts in the job with the combination of exceptional experience and competencies needed to perform all duties and responsibilities at a superior capability level. Internal employee compensation will be determined as per the FNHA Employee Total Compensation Policy.
