Production Shift Supervisor - Injection Molding
Position Summary
The Production Shift Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely operation of the molding production department. This role oversees production activities, supports continuous improvement initiatives, maintains compliance with GMP and SOP requirements, and leads a high-performing team to achieve operational goals related to quality, productivity, safety, and cost.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations
Coordinate and support mold changeovers and machine start-ups.
Approve and release molds and machines for production after setup.
Monitor production flow to ensure schedules, quality standards, and customer requirements are met.
Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions using structured problem-solving methods.
Monitor machine performance and identify opportunities for process and equipment improvements.
Complete and maintain production reports, including downtime, scrap, cycle efficiency, and pre-start inspections.
Ensure accurate data entry and reporting within the ERP system.
Team Leadership
Lead, coach, train, and develop production team members.
Ensure workstations are adequately staffed and resources are allocated effectively.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and support.
Maintain employee attendance records and address workplace concerns as required.
Foster a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.
Support cross-training initiatives and ensure adequate backup coverage across operations.
Safety & Quality
Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by proactively identifying and eliminating workplace hazards.
Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, GMP requirements, SOPs, and company policies.
Work closely with Quality personnel to identify, investigate, and resolve quality issues.
Ensure standard operating procedures and work instructions are documented, maintained, and followed.
Continuous Improvement
Lead and participate in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
Identify waste reduction opportunities and implement process improvements.
Support departmental objectives related to labor efficiency, quality, delivery performance, and cost reduction.
Shift Coordination & Maintenance Oversight
Communicate effectively with incoming and outgoing supervisors to ensure smooth shift transitions.
Oversee maintenance activities, including preventive maintenance schedules and emergency repairs.
Ensure maintenance reports are completed accurately and on time.
Coordinate maintenance and production priorities to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.

Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing leadership or supervisory role.
Experience in plastic injection molding, including molds, setup procedures, and machine troubleshooting, is preferred.
Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Experience with ERP systems; Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience is an asset.
Valid counterbalance forklift and overhead crane certifications are preferred.
Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Reliable transportation required.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to sit, bend, twist, and perform repetitive movements as required.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Full Range Of Motion Required For Daily Job Duties.
Work Schedule
Must be available to work 12-hour rotating continental shifts.
