Job Summary and Requirements
This is for one (1) full-time permanent position, working 75 hours biweekly.

The Major Mines and Technical Services Branch is responsible for the regulation of a sustainable mining industry in the Yukon. The Business Development and Technical Services unit is responsible for the development of strategic and operational mineral resource plans, programs, policies and legislation to support Yukon mining industry investment and development, the delivery of technical supports to the Mineral Resources and Geoscience Services Division, and the management of financial securities held, and mining royalties collected by the Yukon Government. The unit also leads department wide business development and process improvement projects.
As a key member of the management team, the Business Development and Technical Services Manager is responsible for developing, rationalizing, consolidating and implementing mineral resource policies, programs and services. This position is responsible for providing management leadership, coaching and mentoring to its staff of four professionals, located in Whitehorse.
We are looking for a highly motivated and committed individual who has strong supervisory skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a solid understanding of the processes associated with successful program delivery. Strong leadership, team building, strategic thinking, influencing others and creative problem-solving skills are essential to be successful in this key position.

Essential Qualifications

- Post-secondary degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Earth Sciences, Resource Management, or a related field,
- Experience analyzing legislation, regulatory policies, and technical and financial reports to support improvements to business processes and service delivery,
- Experience developing, delivering and evaluating programs, strategies, policies and services,
- Experience managing financial resources and developing and administering financial agreements,
- Experience building partnerships within and outside your organization, including with First Nations, communities, non-profits, and government departments,
- Experience supporting or leading consultation processes for natural resource projects in the Yukon is an asset,
- Experience managing human resources, including developing people, leading teams, mentoring and performance management is an asset.
