Teacher Counsellor or Family School Liaison Counsellor

Location: Westpark Middle School

RDPSD wishes to secure a Teacher Counsellor or a Family School Liaison Counsellor at Westpark Middle School.

The successful candidate will work with the Counselling and Administration teams to provide support for students and enhance their overall development throughout their school experiences. This position will collaborate with district staff, school-based staff and community service providers to promote mental wellness and support emotional development of students and may also provide a variety of intervention services in collaboration with students and their families.

At RDPSD, our counsellors provide comprehensive guidance and counselling for students across a diverse spectrum while promoting personal and social development.

At RDPSD, our counsellors foster student growth and skill development while ameliorating factors that may precipitate student problems. When required, outside agency support is facilitated.

At RDPSD, our counsellors enhance students' educational achievement by helping them set goals, assist with the development of learning plans and activities, and promote effective work and study habits.

At RDPSD, our counsellors facilitate the many transitions that our students go through, exploring all aspects of career education and successful personal transition from school into the post-secondary world.

Preference will be given to candidates with a Bachelor of Education Degree and a Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology or Bachelor of Social Work Degree who are prepared to work in an interdisciplinary team environment.

A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate is required of Teacher Counsellor candidates. External applicants please include a copy of this with your application.

For applicants who do not hold a teaching certificate, active registration with an applicable regulatory body such as the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) or the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) is required.
