HSE Advisor – Project Support

NSB Omega is searching for a HSE Advisor - Project Support for our MAJOR Oil & Gas Client in St. John's, NL

Assignment Description

The main role of the HSE Advisor, Project Support is to support the projects team and contractors in planning and conducting project specific deliverables and safe offshore operations. Ensure that the projects meet pre-determined KPI’s, is regulatory compliant, and is completed in a safe and efficient manner.

The individual in this position is responsible for providing technical and functional HSE support for Major Projects. This position will be based in St. John’s, Newfoundland, however some travel may be required. This position will also provide offshore field support during in-field construction execution.

This position will conduct verification and assurance activities that will help ensure that the client and contractors are meeting regulatory compliance, operations integrity objectives and health, safety and environmental (HSE) performance goals.

• Conduct regulatory compliance gap assessments.
• Conduct audits and inspections of scope specific contractors using the company-based compliance verification tools.
• Attendance at various fabrication and construction sites to oversee and support equipment testing, mobilizations and other project work scopes.
• Conduct and/or review quality of incident investigations.
• Develop, implement, and follow project specific H&S standards and procedures. Ensure bridging documents are developed to align with project specific requirements where required.
• Inform and advise project management and engineering staff on matters and decisions related to process and occupational safety management and loss prevention engineering.
• Support assurance activities (audits) which evaluate the performance of contractor’s safety management system.
• Coach and mentor the client and contractor reps in safety management and safe work practices.
• Manage issues and risk registers for the project teams, ensuring proper documentation and mitigation for the project.
• Participate in hazard and risk assessments.

Qualifications Required

• Post-secondary education in the field of Health Safety and Environmental Science and/or Occupational Health and Safety Certificate/Diploma or Degree from a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution.
• Professional safety designation such as CRSP, CSP, ROH, or ROHT would be considered an asset.

Minimum of 5 years specific experience in a prior HSE role including direct responsibility for the administration of Health, Safety and Environment management programs for the construction, offshore or marine industry
