Overview
Job Summary
Shipping Technician Lead is responsible for performing a variety of tasks involving the shipping, receiving, storing and distributing of materials, parts, supplies and equipment related to finished goods. The Shipping Technician II is responsible for inventory management, they must be a strong tream member and able to work independently on a day to day basis. They must understand and comply with any/all guidelines within the Quality Manual, cGMP, GDP, ISO, Housekeeping, and Departmental Compliance.
Shipping Technician Lead assembles orders and prepares goods for shipment. Receives, unpacks, inspects and stores incoming Intercompany inventory (?) goods materials and supplies. Uses shipping records to verify the accuracy of shipments and orders. Documents damages and discrepancies for future reimbursement and reconciliation. Typically requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. IS able to organize shipping operations' daily activities, including order processing, inventory tracking, documentation, and transportation oversight. Utilizes enterprise resource planning (ERP) or other systems to record and track all shipping transactions, analyze performance metrics, and generate reports. Ensures shipping protocols and documentation meet required regulatory requirements for hazardous materials (DOT/HAZMAT) or special handling. Investigates and resolves shipping quality issues, damages, or lost freight claims. Develops and maintains relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, and vendors. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. Typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes.

Key Accountabilities
- Manage time effectively while adhering to and following standard work routines.
- Responsible for performing daily work activities in accordance with company safety policies, procedures and practices, as required by the Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Internal Responsibility System.
- Identify and report any unsafe working conditions.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable company policies as defined in the company Employee Handbook.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable procedures, safety practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of, and adhere to all required safety standards / regulations and biohazardous disposal procedures in accordance with WHMIS and Ministry of the Environment regulations.
- Understand the principals of GMP, ISO, and SOX requirements.
- Has a general understanding of activities of all company departments.
- Meets achievement levels established for defined personal performance objectives, error accuracy rates and competency evaluations.
- Displays ability to be an effective team member and works effectively with other members of the Commercial Operations team and the Sales team.
- Receives direction well from supervisors and managers.
- Interact cooperatively and positively with co-workers and the employees of other departments.
- Seek to achieve and maintain the highest standard of expertise, industry knowledge and professional conduct.
- Maintains a neat, organized and clean workspace and department.
- Create and maintain accurate, legible and organized documentation of all procedures and files in accordance with standard company protocols, regulatory requirements and department requirements.
- Understand the operations and procedures of Commercial Operations and the related equipment including required maintenance, cleaning and operational procedures necessary to maintain GMP and ISO compliance.
- Perform all Commercial Operations related procedures within specified time frames and according to departmental and company SOP’s.
- Operate, clean, and maintain departmental equipment including walk-in’s, freezers, computers, scanners, printers, etc.
- Identify and help troubleshoot incorrect performance of department equipment and/or processes.
- Perform administrative aspects of tasks including completing all required paperwork and forms.
- Participate in deviation investigations, corrective and preventative action activities, implementation programs, and effectiveness verification assessments in accordance with Quality System Requirements.
- Perform inspection, documentation and verification of incoming goods as required (internally, intra-company, and dock-to-stock).
- Perform inspection, documentation, and verification of all incoming departmental supplies.
- Perform cycle counts, maintain inventory (FIFO) and complete all associated documents and records.
- Complete handling and disposal of discarded or returned product.
- Perform shipping functions including, but not limited to, picking, packing, and documentation.
- Maintain the warehouse, including but not limited to, storing/rotating supplies, re-stacking shipping cartons and organizing those areas.
- May be required to assist personnel in other departments as required and when so assigned.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
Networking/Key relationships
Works closely with all customer services, sales and service, as well as quality control and manufacturing departments.
Qualifications
Minimum Knowledge & Experience required for the position:
- Minimum of High School disploma is required, and a strong ability to speak, read and write Enlish. Shipping Technician II will have 3-4 years of relatred experience.
Skills & Capabilities
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers common fracti-ons and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, dia-gram, or schedule form.
