St. Albert Public Schools is currently recruiting a Full Time, Probationary, Custodian 2 for a work assignment with Facilities Services.

More than 9000 students are enrolled in St. Albert Public Schools. From Preschool to Grade 12, our students learn and succeed in programs that are recognized for excellence and their focus on citizenship and sound values.

Hours of Work: 37.50 hrs./week; 7.5 hrs./day Monday-Friday; Full Time, Probationary

Hours will be : 3:00pm to 11:00pm

Hourly Rate: $25.26 per hour, as per the CUPE Collective Agreement

Position Summary

The successful candidate will be assigned to a work location based on the Division’s operational needs and must be willing and able to work at, and relocate between, Division sites as required . Under the direction of the Assistant Manager of Facilities Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for cleaning designated areas of Division facilities, performing minor maintenance tasks, and fostering positive working relationships with staff, students, and community user groups.

Specific Needs/Requirements for this position

  • Thorough knowledge of custodial procedures, cleaning materials and supplies, and the operation and maintenance of custodial equipment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety requirements, including the safe handling and use of hazardous chemicals and materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and orient new staff.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Minimum 1 year of building cleaning experience
  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience
