The Dietitian I - is a frontline professional position within Nutrition Services reporting to the Manager of Nutrition Services, South Zone. You would be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans for home living, supportive living and adult home enteral clients in Lethbridge.

The Home Living practice area includes visiting a diverse client population in their home environment to offer education and counselling to support their goals and help them to remain healthy in their homes. Supportive Living would include visiting clients residing in various supportive living facilities in the city, working with clients, their families, and supportive living staff to manage nutrition concerns and support their goals for nutrition care.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team in both facility and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes using a patient focused approach. As a home health dietitian you step out of the office and into the heart of the real world world, bridging the gap between clinical theory and a clients daily reality.

Lethbridge is located in southern Alberta within 150km of the Rocky Mountains and enjoys warm bright summers and mild winters. Although the Lethbridge area is traditionally agricultural in nature, it’s grown into a vibrant, multicultural urban centre, as well as an economic, governmental and service hub of over 100,000 people. As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various AHS facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans. You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings. Nutrition education is provided to students and other healthcare professionals to support delivery of evidence based nutrition information.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Science with a major in Foods and Nutrition. Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by the Dietitians of Canada. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA).

Additional Required Qualifications

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

Preferred Qualifications

1-2 years' experience as a Registered Dietitian. Experience with Enteral Nutrition. Experience with home care, supportive living or outpatients. Experience in nutrition counselling for behaviour change. Experience with virtual health applications (MS Teams, Zoom, etc).
