Make your mark while you grow your career! As a Commercial Coordinator within Canadian Natural’s Crude Oil Marketing team, you will support the negotiation, execution, administration and ongoing optimization of commercial arrangements across Canadian Natural’s crude oil portfolio.

In this role, you will work closely with Crude Oil Marketing, Logistics and Scheduling, Accounting, Credit, Risk, Legal and Operations, while also engaging with external customers, shippers, pipelines, terminals and other industry counterparties. Your work will help ensure commercial commitments are well-structured, properly documented and effectively executed, with a focus on contract governance, transportation economics, pipeline tariffs, claims and dispute resolution.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support Crude Oil Marketers in negotiating, executing, and administering purchase, sale, exchange, transportation, storage, and terminalling agreements while maintaining accurate commercial contract records and terms, including pricing, General Terms and Conditions, credit requirements, delivery obligations, nominations, notices, renewals, and expiry dates
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of Western Canadian crude oil markets, pipeline tariffs, nomination procedures, apportionment, transportation alternatives, quality requirements and market access constraints
  • Collaborate with Legal, Credit, Risk, and Accounting to support contract approvals, counterparty onboarding, credit reviews, collateral requirements, internal governance, and accurate settlement, while coordinating with Logistics and Scheduling to assess the commercial impact of nominations, delivery performance, pipeline constraints, inventory positions, quality matters, and operational disruptions
  • Review pipeline tariff changes, regulatory filings, industry notices, and shipper communications to identify potential commercial impacts and recommended actions, while supporting timely and professional resolution of commercial disputes, claims, invoice issues, delivery variances, quality adjustments, and other counterparty matters
  • Prepare contract summaries, issue logs, position updates, commercial analysis, briefing materials, and recommendations for Marketers and management, while tracking and analyzing fees, pricing, differentials, quality adjustments, transportation costs, netbacks, and other commercial alternatives to support value-focused decision-making
  • Identify and recommend improvements to contract structures, internal processes, reporting tools, commercial controls, and portfolio flexibility, while building and maintaining effective internal and external relationships to support reliable execution, clear communication, and strong commercial outcomes

What You Bring to the Role

  • 10+ years of experience in crude oil marketing, contracts, logistics, scheduling, transportation, commercial operations, or business development within the energy sector
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, engineering, commerce or a related discipline
  • Strong interest in developing a career in crude oil marketing, with the initiative to learn market fundamentals, transportation economics and commercial value drivers
  • Working knowledge of Western Canadian crude oil markets, pipeline systems, transportation options, pipeline nominations, tariffs and commercial contract structures
  • Experience reviewing, drafting or administering commercial agreements, General Terms and Conditions, transportation contracts, tariffs or related commercial documents
  • Ability to interpret contract language, identify commercial implications, understand risk and escalate key issues with clear recommendations
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized, with strong ability to track obligations, deadlines, documentation, and follow-ups while managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communicator and relationship builder with sound judgment, accountability, and proficiency in Excel (Power BI and related tools an asset), enabling effective collaboration and practical problem-solving
