We're looking for a Advisor, Proposals to support our growing team. The Advisor, Proposals leads the development of compelling, high-quality proposal content that supports winning submissions and aligns with KBL's strategic growth objectives. This role combines technical writing expertise, proposal leadership, mentorship, and strategic business development support to strengthen KBL's market position and proposal success.
What You'll Do
- Lead the development of technical proposal content, translating complex technical information into clear, persuasive, and client-focused narratives.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Technical Leads, subject matter experts, and business development teams to create compliant, competitive proposals that showcase KBL's expertise and value.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to Proposal Coordinators, promoting best practices, consistency, and continuous improvement in proposal development.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance proposal content libraries, templates, technical write-ups, project profiles, and other reusable marketing and proposal materials.
- Support strategic growth initiatives through market research, grant opportunities, business development activities, compliance programs, and new market expansion efforts.
Who You Are
- Post-secondary education in Communications, Marketing, Business, English, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
- 5–10 years of experience in proposal writing, technical content development, or business development, preferably within the environmental services, engineering, or construction industries.
- Exceptional technical writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Strong ability to translate complex technical concepts into compelling, client-focused content.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Strong understanding of proposal strategy, messaging, and competitive positioning.
- Ability to work independently while influencing and supporting cross-functional teams.
What You Need
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience developing and reviewing technical proposals, RFP, RFQ, and SOQ submissions.
- Familiarity with CRM systems such as Pipedrive.
- Strong understanding of government and industry procurement processes.
- Experience leading proposal teams and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to travel periodically for client meetings, site visits, and industry conferences.
- Experience supporting grant applications, compliance initiatives, permitting, licensing, or regulatory documentation is considered an asset.
