Summary

Under the direction of the Principal of TR Leger School of Adult, Alternative, and Continuing Education, the Learning Partner/Teacher: Commercial Vehicle and Equipment Apprenticeship Program, will work with school staff, system staff, students and community partners in support of the Commercial Vehicle and Equipment Apprenticeship program.

Base location is the TR Leger School of Adult, Alternative and Continuing Education, Kemptville campus at 40 Curtis Avenue, Kemptville ON.

Responsibilities

Please note that the Learning Partner and Teacher have the same responsibilities unless otherwise noted.

    • To implement and support Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labour, Training, and Skills Development, and district priorities
    • To design programming and interpret curriculum in partnership with administrators, learning partners, and community partners
    • To assess, design and set-up the workshop learning space
    • To assist in the development of plans for communication, marketing and student recruitment
    • To review and explore program applications with learning partners and administrators
    • To deliver program to students and complete assessments as per Growing Success (teacher responsibility)
    • To liaise with a variety of community partners to secure work placements in support of the home school co-op teachers.
    • To liaise with a variety of community partners to secure required resources.
    • To dialogue and plan with partners about future opportunities for students (i.e. Taste of the Trades, Women in the Trades, Microcredentialling, SHSM)

    • Combination of excellent leadership and teaching skills with a strong commitment to academic excellence and student success
    • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of Growing Success and a wide range of assessment and evaluation strategies
    • Demonstrates a broad knowledge of effective pedagogy, curriculum design, and classroom practices that directly impact student learning
    • Demonstrates experience in effectively integrating technology into teaching practice, including hybrid and/or online delivery
    • Ability to relate effectively to a wide variety of learners
    • Training and experience in Adult Education is an asset
    • Knowledge of the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP)
    • Demonstrates an open mindset and a commitment to learning
    • Demonstrates excellent organizational, presentation and time management skills
    • Demonstrates exemplary communication, interpersonal, facilitation, and team building skills
    • Works effectively with the technician, school staff, system staff, and community partners
    • Demonstrates strong initiative and problem-solving skills
    • Follows the Standards of Practice and Ethical Standards of Practice for the Teaching Profession
    • Demonstrates knowledge of equitable and inclusive education practices and is committed to culturally relevant and responsive pedagogy
    • Demonstrates ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, diplomacy and discretion
    • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the Commercial Vehicle and Equipment Curriculum Standards (310T, 421A, 425A)
    • Industry experience is an asset
    • Extensive experience in the following Commercial Vehicle Systems: Fluid Power, Engine, Electrical, Fuel, Drive Train, Wheel End Assemblies & Brakes.
    • Demonstrates a strong knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety and Trade Practice, and a proven commitment to creating a safe classroom environment for students.

Qualifications

    • An Ontario Teachers Certificate of Qualification
    • Red Seal Designation in one or more of the Motive Power Trades: Agricultural Equipment Technician, Heavy Equipment Technician, and/or Truck and Coach Technician
    • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience
    • Member of the Ontario College of Teachers in good standing

Conditions

  • Salary grid plus travel allowance, if applicable
  • Term one year only, 2026-2027 (at the end of the term, returns to home school location, where applicable)
  • Travel to various sites may be required
