Alberta Precision Laboratories’ Mobile Collections team is seeking independent, skilled, and experienced Medical Laboratory Assistants (MLAs) to support our mobile service areas. As a Mobile MLA, you will deliver high‑quality collection services to patients in long‑term care facilities and private residences, helping ensure timely and reliable laboratory results for some of Alberta’s most vulnerable populations. This role requires frequent lifting of up to 10 lbs. and the ability to apply strong organizational, problem‑solving, troubleshooting, and decision‑making skills. You will rely on effective time‑management and task‑prioritization to complete repetitive tasks with accuracy while providing safe, respectful, and patient‑focused care. As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Required Qualifications

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications

Previous phlebotomy experience and ECG certification required. Experience recognizing patients in distress and providing appropriate assistance. Experience with laboratory data entry.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum of two years of recent phlebotomy experience. ECG experience. Previous experience working in a Mobile Collections environment. Experience working with Connect Care and Mobile Collections Information System (MCIS). Excellent organizational, problem‑solving, troubleshooting, and decision‑making skills. Strong commitment to professionalism and maintaining confidentiality. Training or courses in leadership, customer service, or change management.
