Who We Are

Simon Fraser University is a leading research university, advancing an inclusive and sustainable future. Our purpose – the essence of SFU – is to create and connect knowledge, learning and community for deeper understanding and meaningful impact. We are committed to fostering excellence, innovation, belonging and community in all that we do.

Student Recruitment & Admissions at Simon Fraser University is often the front door for newly admitted students as they embark upon their academic journey. The Undergraduate Admissions unit is dedicated to an inclusive and accessible approach to admission, involving the processing and evaluation of student applications according to current admission standards and best practices on a global scale. We seek to be student-centred in our policies and procedures to meet a diverse applicant community and are proactive and responsive in our effort to support enrolment management at the institutional level.

About the Role

The Program Assistant determines academic documentation and language proficiency requirements for each applicant; requests and monitors the submission of supporting documentation; determines applicant readiness for evaluation; interprets and adheres to deadlines, implementing various and complex university policies and procedures regarding eligibility for admission to all undergraduate programs. The Assistant ensures applications are properly classified, processed accurately, and reviewed in a timely manner to support the attainment of institutional enrollment goals. The role serves as a primary point of contact for prospective students, staff, and the public on the application process, status of applications, pre-requisite and transfer credit regulations, admission requirements and provides guidance on required documentation, university policies, and procedures governing eligibility for admission to the university for domestic, international, and strategic population groups. The Assistant supports data management by maintaining application record data in the Student Information System and exercises a high degree of digital fluency by responding to student inquiries via the Salesforce Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) system, executing business process workflows in the OnBase electronic document management system, complex application databases, and retrieval of electronic data from the B.C. Ministry of Education and external examining boards.
