Technical Writer – Grants & Technical Communications

MicroAlchemy is a Canadian semiconductor startup working to rapidly manufacture prototype silicon on mature process nodes from 1 µm and below. We are looking for a Technical Writer to support grant applications, technical magazine articles, proposals, reports, and other technical communications.

This role involves turning complex semiconductor, hardware, manufacturing, and R&D concepts into clear, compelling written material for government funders, technical audiences, investors, partners, and the broader hardware community.

Responsibilities and Duties

- Draft and edit grant applications, funding proposals, project summaries, and technical reports.

- Write technical magazine articles, blog posts, white papers, and public-facing technical content.

- Translate engineering and semiconductor manufacturing concepts into accessible language for both technical and non-technical audiences.

- Work with MicroAlchemy’s technical team to understand project goals, milestones, technical risks, and commercial impact.

- Help prepare written materials for government programs, investors, strategic partners, and ecosystem stakeholders.

- Maintain a clear and consistent tone across company communications.

- Research relevant technical topics, industry trends, funding priorities, and semiconductor manufacturing developments.

- Edit and refine existing technical documents for clarity, structure, and persuasiveness.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has strong writing and editing skills, technical curiosity, and the ability to quickly understand complex topics. Experience in grant writing, technical journalism, engineering communications, semiconductor technology, hardware, advanced manufacturing, or deep-tech startups is an asset.
