Financial Crime Data Scientist (Temporary)

Temporary position for 24 months.
The Financial Crime Analytics Department plays a strategic role in developing detection abilities to fight financial crime. We work directly on critical performance, capacity and compliance issues, in close collaboration with the second line of defence, operations and IT teams. As part of a priority anti-money laundering project, you will contribute to strengthening processing capacity and sustainably improving operational efficiency. Your role as a data scientist will be to reduce workload at the source, automate recurring analyses and simplify processes, as well as better focus efforts on the most significant risks. You will develop solutions that have a direct, measurable and visible impact on operations. More specifically, you will be required to:
- Develop analytical approaches to reduce volumes to be processed, automate transaction analysis (detecting recurring patterns) and improve operational productivity.
- Implement prioritization and targeting mechanisms to focus efforts on the highest-value alerts.
- Work closely with operations teams to translate field issues into concrete analytical solutions and support processing activities.
- Help implement solutions that address regulatory, operational and efficiency issues.
- Work closely with the second line of defence, project teams and IT within a structured governance framework (committees, follow-ups, deliverables) to ensure compliance, quality and robustness of solutions.

What you bring to the table
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, computer science, mathematics or a related field
- A minimum of six years of relevant data modelling or data science experience
- Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
- Academic specialization beyond the bachelor’s degree level
- Experience delivering analytical solutions with concrete operational impact (volume reduction, automation, efficiency gains)
- Experience in quickly translating field issues into analytical solutions by working closely with operations
- Knowledge of French is required
- Intermediate knowledge of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
- Expertise in data science (machine learning, statistics) and a good understanding of the limitations in an operational context
- Proficiency in Python, analytical development practices (Git, MLflow, MLOps) and proficiency in distributed environments (Spark)
- Knowledge of Azure / Databricks environment
- Knowledge of financial crime regulatory frameworks (FINTRAC, FATF)
