What is the role?

For our Brossard, Québec Plant, we are looking for a Mechanical Designer Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Supervisor, the selected candidate will work closely with the engineering team on various electrical power distribution projects aimed at measuring, controlling, and protecting equipment.

This role stands out for its dynamic nature and wide variety of challenges. It is ideal for someone who wants to avoid routine, enjoys working in a constantly evolving environment, and appreciates collaborating with many different stakeholders.

Main responsibilities are:

  • Design and develop 3D mechanical assemblies and components to customize Schneider solutions according to customer specifications.
  • Ensure all designs meet applicable industry standards, including CSA, UL, ANSI, ISO, and other relevant certifications.
  • Generate high‑quality 2D drawings and prepare complete Bills of Materials (BOMs) within required project timelines.
  • Provide hands‑on technical support to the assembly line, addressing questions and resolving issues to maintain smooth production workflows.
  • Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams including Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure product excellence and on‑time delivery.

Plus, you have the following qualities and certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or a Technical Diploma (DEC) in Mechanical Engineering with equivalent experience.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a similar mechanical design or engineering role.
  • Proficiency with ProE/Creo and PDM/Windchill (or equivalent CAD/PDM systems); experience with AutoCAD is also an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of sheet‑metal and copper component fabrication processes.
  • Solid technical project management skills, with the ability to manage priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities.
  • Basic understanding of electrical principles, including reading technical schematics and awareness of electrical hazards.
  • Bilingual in French and English (intermediate level) to support national and international collaboration with partners.
  • Experience in designing electrical distribution equipment is considered an asset.
