Position Overview

SWAT Consulting Inc. is seeking a Spill Response Supervisor to join our Leduc and/or Grande

Prairie offices. Other locations across Western Canada may be considered for a hybrid model

for the right candidate. The successful candidate will bring strong technical and field

experience. The position is approximately 85% field based with a focus in site supervision for

spill response.

This role is ideal for a field-focused environmental professional who is comfortable leading time-

sensitive spill response and remediation work in dynamic field conditions. Spill Response

Supervisors play a key role in coordinating initial containment and recovery, directing contractors,

documenting site conditions, supporting regulatory/client communication, and helping move

response work safely and efficiently from initial response through assessment, remediation, and

reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Complete emergency spill response including initial containment and recovery, assessment,

and breakpoint exposure.

  • Lead daily field-level hazard assessments/tailgate meetings and promote safe execution of

work by SWAT staff and contractors.

  • Direct and complete installation of inverted weirs, booms, boomvanes, or other

containment systems where applicable.

  • Conduct onsite management and supervision of remedial excavation activities.
  • Supervise and direct heavy equipment contractors.
  • Conduct sampling and monitoring of soil and groundwater.
  • Fill out sampling documentation and chain of custody.
  • Complete Daily Situation Reports and track equipment and materials/volume movement.
  • Assist with Spill Preparedness and Emergency Management portfolios.

SWAT Consulting Inc.

  • Prepare technical reports including the development of conceptual site models,

remediation action plans, and assessment and remediation reports.

  • Provide technical and problem-solving skills in the field in a site supervisor role.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with SWAT employees.
  • Liaise with clients, project stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.
  • Mentor and develop less experienced SWAT employees.
  • Work with multiple projects within scope, budget and schedule while ensuring quality on

deliverables.

  • Occasional after-hours work on weekends or evenings as the need arises to support

emergency spill response.

Qualifications

  • A degree or technical diploma in an environmental discipline.
  • Must be eligible to be a member of a professional association (P.Chem., P.Eng., P. Geo., PAg,

RTAg, P.Biol., P.Tech. (Eng.), etc.).

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience within the Oil and Gas, or related industry.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Understand upstream oil and gas regulatory requirements including Alberta Tier 1 and 2

Guidelines, CCME Guidelines, and AER Directives 50 and 58.

  • Understand reportable releases, emergency response expectations, waste management,

and environmental incident documentation.

  • Demonstrated organizational and safety leadership skills.
  • Full understanding of ground disturbance procedures.
  • Flexibility and desire to work onsite for extended periods, occasionally in remote locations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a team-based environment.
  • Excellent time management, written and verbal communication skills.
  • An enthusiastic attitude, ability to multi-task and a passion for consistently delivering

outstanding work.

  • An eagerness to work with a dynamic team and a growth-oriented company.
  • Critical thinking with a focus on efficient task execution.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Computer and software proficiency would be an asset (SWAT uses MS Suite, Adobe DC,

ESRI, WellViewer, ABADATA, FWMIS).

  • Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Must complete and pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
