Contribution

Plans, implements, and oversees the day-to-day activities of the program. Provides out-of-

office community outreach. Participates in program development, policies and procedure

formulation, program evaluation and budget preparation.

Qualifications

1. Diploma in a related human/social service-related field.

2. Two (2) years recent related experience.

3. Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

4. Valid First Aid Certificate.

5. Valid Driver’s License.

Job Skills and Abilities

1. Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

2. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team with a variety of staff,

professionals, and other members of the community.

3. Knowledge of mental health and addictions issues.

4. Ability to engage in out of office community outreach.

5. Training in non-violent crisis intervention an asset.

6. Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

1. Plans and implements the program, in consultation with the Program Director,

according to its mandate and performance measures of the contract.

2. Connects clients with stable accommodation.

3. Connects clients with income assistance where appropriate.

4. Refers client to community-based support services.

5. Provides support/information to landlords who have housed clients.

6. Oversees the day-to-day operation of the program by ensuring that the necessary

facilities and equipment are in place, program guidelines and policies are adhered

to, and program standards and licensing requirements are met.

7. Makes recommendations to the supervisor regarding program development,

budget considerations, policy and procedure formulation and program evaluation

including trends.

8. Promotes public awareness of and support for the program by performing duties

such as having promotional materials available as needed and attending

community meetings and external events as required.

9. Liaises with the homeless population, community service providers and other

professionals to coordinate service provision, facilitate referrals to the program and

represent the organization or program.

10. Monitors and authorizes program expenditures in consultation with the Program

Director and maintains financial records in accordance to established procedures.

11. Maintains petty cash for program.

12. Maintains related records and statistics and produces reports as required.

13. Performs other related duties as required.

Vacation & Leave: Employees accumulate 6% vacation pay on all hours worked in the first

and second year of employment. This equals 15 days of holidays (3 weeks/year). After the

first two years of employment, they earn one additional day of vacation per year of service,

to a maximum of 35 workdays.

Retirement Pension: When eligible, an employee will be enrolled in the Municipal Pension

Plan with a matching contribution by SSCS .
