The City of Salmon Arm is accepting applications for a Part Time Casual Recreation Assistant at the SASCU Recreation Centre. Reporting to the Aquatics and Programming Manager of the Shuswap Recreation Society, this position assists in providing recreation programs, courses and special events.

The Recreation Assistant performs a variety of duties including but not limited to working the reception area at the Recreation Centre, planning & delivering program activities, set up and take down of program space and teaching youth leadership courses (i.e. Red Cross Babysitters course, Safe at Home, Motoring Munchkins, etc.).

The applicable candidate must be able to work weekend and evenings. As this is a Part Time Casual position, hours will vary and the successful candidate may be called to ensure coverage for operations is maintained.

Candidates for this position will have their standard first aid and a minimum of two (2) years experience working with children. Training in Early Childhood Education, Recreation Leadership or Red Cross Babysitting Course Facilitator certification would be considered an asset. Remuneration for this position is in accordance with the CUPE Local 1908 Collective Agreement, $24.64 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits and vacation. Candidates will be required to provide a criminal record check including a vulnerable sector check.
