Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to lead growth initiatives within the oil and gas sector. The role focuses on identifying new opportunities, building strategic client relationships, and driving revenue through tailored commercial strategies. The ideal candidate combines strong sales leadership with deep sector knowledge of oil & gas markets and proven ability to close complex deals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a business development strategy to achieve revenue and market share targets in the oil and gas sector.
- Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities, including upstream, midstream, and downstream clients, contractors, and partners.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, clients, and industry stakeholders to generate repeat business and referrals.
- Lead end-to-end sales cycles: prospecting, proposal development, negotiation, contract closing, and post-sale account management.
- Work closely with technical, operations, and delivery teams to develop competitive, compliant, and technically sound commercial proposals.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments to identify risks and opportunities; translate insights into actionable plans.
- Prepare and present clear business cases, bids, and commercial proposals to senior management and clients.
- Manage and report on pipeline, forecasts, and performance metrics using CRM tools; ensure accurate sales forecasting and timely follow-up.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to raise brand visibility and generate leads.
- Mentor and collaborate with cross-functional teams; provide guidance on commercial best practices and contribute to continuous improvement of sales processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering, Geosciences, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 5-8 years of business development or sales experience with a focus on the oil & gas industry, including proven success closing medium to large contracts.
- Strong understanding of oil and gas value chains (upstream, midstream, downstream), typical procurement processes, and contracting models.
- Demonstrated track record in relationship building, negotiation, and stakeholder management at senior client levels.
- Proven ability to develop strategic account plans, build pipelines, and meet or exceed revenue targets.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience preparing commercial proposals and leading client negotiations.
- Proficient with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and MS Office; comfortable preparing sales forecasts and pipeline reports.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required; flexible and able to work in fast-paced, project-driven environments.
