Position: Board Member CCSYR – volunteer position

Employment Type: Part-time

Employment Term: 3-years’ commitment

Time Commitment: Board meetings every two months during the calendar year

About CCSYR

CCSYR is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals and families thrive through counselling, settlement, employment, and community engagement services. The organization supports newcomers, immigrants, refugees, seniors, youth, and diverse communities across York Region.

Position Overview

CCSYR operates as a governance board responsible for overseeing the organization’s operations, policies, and strategic direction. The Board ensures the organization operates in alignment with its mission and objectives while providing governance, strategic leadership, and oversight to support CCSYR’s sustainability and community impact. Board members contribute professional expertise, participate in decision-making, and serve as ambassadors for the organization. These are volunteer positions with no remuneration attached.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend and actively participate in Board and committee meetings,
  • Support organizational strategic planning and governance,
  • Review policies, budgets, and financial statements,
  • Contribute professional expertise and community insight,
  • Promote and advocate for CCSYR programs and initiatives,
  • Support fundraising, partnerships, and community engagement efforts,
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to conflict-of-interest policies,
  • Assist in identifying potential board members and volunteers,
  • Uphold CCSYR’s values, mission, and Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

  • Previous board or volunteer experience is an asset.
