Reporting to the Director of Information Services, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is seeking an AXON Digital Evidence Management System (DEMS) Senior Systems Administrator to support and enhance the organization’s digital evidence platform.

This cloud-based system enables secure, reliable, and efficient collection, management, and disclosure of digital evidence in support of investigative and judicial processes.

The successful candidate will provide senior-level technical expertise in the configuration, integration, and ongoing optimization of AXON’s Evidence.com platform. This includes ensuring system performance, data integrity, and compliance with evidentiary and privacy standards.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and has a keen interest in modern technologies and cloud-based solutions. Working within the Information Services division, which supports approximately 400 users, the successful candidate will play a key role in system enhancements, cloud adoption initiatives, and the continued modernization of policing technology.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide senior-level technical support for RNCs AXON DEMS environment, including configuration, security and system admin;
  • Lead and participate in AXON DEMS initiatives, including AXON Interview, AXON Capture and AXON Body Worn Camera. Coordinating rollout, training and testing activities, and supporting all areas of deployment;
  • Manage user access, roles, permissions and security controls.
  • Configure system settings, workflows, retention polices and tagging structures.
  • Perform systems analysis, feature releases, and day-to-day production support to ensure system availability, performance, integrity, and security;
  • Troubleshoot issues and liaise with Axon support/vendor teams.
  • Contribute to the Design and development of RNC AXON DEMS guides, training material and Standard Operating Procedures;
  • Support enterprise integrations between AXON DEMS and government systems and external services;
  • Design and execute software testing activities including unit, functional, integration, automation, and performance testing;
  • Assist in digital evidence requests, disclosure processes and court preparation.
  • Monitor system usage, performance and audit logs.
  • Participate in change management, peer review, and quality assurance processes to ensure high-quality system delivery;
  • Support the adoption of cloud-based Police technologies and enterprise best practice;
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to other team members; and
  • Other related duties as required.

Screening Criteria

  1. Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. (equivalences will be considered)
  2. Experience in IT end-user support, incident management, and/or account security
  3. Experience with user administration, auditing, and system configuration
  4. Experience with records management systems (asset)
  5. Experience with the judicial system (asset)
