Turkey Farmers of Canada (TFC) is the national organization representing Canada's 510+ turkey farmers. Established in 1974 under the federal Farm Products Agencies Act, TFC oversees the turkey supply management system in Canada, promotes turkey consumption, and fosters industry-wide cooperation. Our 11-member Board of Directors — comprising farmer-elected provincial representatives alongside primary and further processing sector members —sets national production levels and guides decisions on bird care, food safety, market research, and international trade.
About the Role
TFC is seeking a Market and Policy Analyst to join our national office. Reporting to the Manager, Markets Information — with a secondary reporting line to the Director, Economic Affairs & International Trade — this role is central to TFC's monitoring and response to market conditions across the Canadian turkey industry.
You will maintain and develop our data infrastructure, generate the reports and forecasts that inform strategic decisions, and provide technical and statistical support across the organization. You'll work closely with provincial boards, processors, and government representatives in a small, collaborative team environment.
The role is based in Mississauga, with a hybrid work arrangement.
Key ResponsibilitiesDatabase Management
- Maintain and update market databases on weekly, monthly, and quarterly schedules — covering production, live prices, stocks, exports, retail data, breeder data, and macroeconomic statistics.
- Design and build new databases and associated reporting infrastructure.
- Ensure data submitted by provincial boards is timely and accurate.
- Maintain proper documentation of all database operations.
Markets Information & Analysis
- Generate and distribute recurring reports including the Turkey Market Review, Tariff Rate Quota tracking, production and reconciliation summaries, and live price reports.
- Evaluate emerging data trends and provide analysis and insight to inform decision-making.
- Develop new methods for data analysis and forecasting.
- Respond to ad hoc research and information requests from internal and external stakeholders.
Policy & Quota Compliance
- Support the Manager, Markets Information and Director, Economic Affairs & International Trade as needed.
- Manage the weekly provincial slaughter reconciliation process.
- Work with provincial boards to ensure timely and accurate reporting under Export and Breeder Policies.
Performs other related duties that may reasonably be assigned from time to time.
What We're Looking ForRequired
- Post-secondary education in statistics, economics, agriculture, or a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Relevant experience in policy, research, analysis, agriculture, food systems, government relations, or a related field.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a strong aptitude for quantitative analysis.
- Ability to prepare clear, concise reports, correspondence, presentations, and briefing materials, and to present findings confidently to diverse audiences.
- Sound independent judgment and ability to work effectively with producers, processors, and government representatives.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and within a team.
- Willingness to learn new software applications and programming tools.
- Ability to travel occasionally as required.
Assets
· Experience working with or within an agricultural organization, commodity association, producer group, processor, government, or related stakeholder environment.
- Advanced knowledge of statistical methods.
- Experience with Power BI, Power Query, VBA, or R.
- Knowledge of the Canadian agriculture sector and supply management.
- Experience in market, sectoral, or economic analysis.
- Bilingualism (English and French).
