Position Summary
Talon Risk Mitigation and Investigative Services is seeking a reliable, professional, and discreet Private Investigator to conduct surveillance assignments and other investigative tasks throughout Manitoba. The successful candidate will be responsible for observing, documenting, and reporting activities relevant to investigations while maintaining strict confidentiality, professionalism, and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Previous investigative or surveillance experience is considered an asset, but it is not required. Training and guidance may be provided to the right candidate. Applicants must possess a valid Manitoba Private Investigator Licence.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct mobile and stationary surveillance assignments in a professional and lawful manner.
- Observe and document activities, movements, locations, and relevant details accurately.
- Prepare clear, objective, and timely investigation reports.
- Capture appropriate video or photographic evidence when required.
- Maintain detailed notes, timelines, and records of surveillance activities.
- Operate discreetly while maintaining situational awareness and personal safety.
- Travel to various locations throughout assigned areas as required.
- Communicate regularly with supervisors, case managers, or clients as directed.
- Preserve confidentiality of all case information, client details, and evidence.
- Follow company policies, investigative procedures, and applicable legislation.
- Represent the company professionally during all assignments and interactions.
Required Qualifications
- Must possess a valid Manitoba Private Investigator Licence.
- Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and extended hours as required.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Ability to produce accurate, objective, and detailed reports.
- Comfortable using technology such as smartphones, GPS, video cameras, and reporting software.
- High level of discretion, judgment, and professionalism.
- Ability to remain patient, focused, and alert for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in private investigation, surveillance, security, law enforcement, insurance investigations, or a related field.
- Experience preparing investigative reports.
- Experience using surveillance equipment.
- Knowledge of Manitoba laws and regulations related to private investigation.
- Familiarity with insurance, workplace, domestic, or corporate investigation files.
Working Conditions
- Field-based work involving mobile and stationary surveillance.
- Assignments may require sitting or waiting for extended periods.
- Work may occur in various weather conditions.
- Hours may vary depending on operational needs and assignment requirements.
- Travel throughout Manitoba may be required.
Compensation
- Compensation will be based on qualifications, experience, and assignment requirements with a starting wage between $25.00 - $30.00/hour.
- Casual hours, with the potential to become full time.
