About the Role

We are seeking a qualified solicitor to join our team, focusing on serving First Nations interests and engaging in a practice focused on Economic Development.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 year call Solicitor
  • Would consider a candidate called under 5 years if able to meet the identified required experience.
  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of BC or ON. Called in NWT or YT is a bonus.
  • A genuine interest in developing a practice to serve First Nations interests

Required Experience

  • Experience in transactional/M&A and secured/financing transactions
  • Experience with major projects work (energy, mining, linear [pipeline/transmission line], etc.)
  • Experience with corporate work (complex organizations/reorganizations, corporate finance, etc.)
  • Experience leading or managing key components of large-scale and complex transactions
  • Regulatory (environmental), aboriginal, securities and tax law experience

Required Skills

  • Self-motivated and confident
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent technical/legal writing, advocacy, and negotiation skills
  • Able to explain complex legal concepts and procedural information across disciplines and cultures
  • A strong team player able to balance working independently and within interdisciplinary teams including providing mentorship to junior associates
  • Willingness to travel and cultivate relationships with current and future clients
  • Willingness to participate in cultural and professional events (external/internal) including speaking engagements

Pay range and compensation package

  • Salary commensurate with experience and year of call
  • Immediate enrollment in our Group Benefits Plan (Medical/Vision/Dental/Prescription/Paramedical)
  • Employer RSP contribution
  • Employer paid Law Society and CBA fees
  • Continuing Professional Development allowance
