WCEBP is seeking a highly motivated and creative individual with strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills to join our Communications team. Reporting to the Manager, Communications, the Communications Specialist works collaboratively across the organization with subject matter experts and Information Systems staff to support the development and delivery of member-focused communications initiatives. The role is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and maintenance of WCEBP's websites, the development of clear and engaging content, and the support of communications projects that enhance the Member experience. Through a focus on website development and maintenance, content creation, collaboration, and communications quality and compliance, this position helps ensure WCEBP's communications are accessible, informative, and aligned with organizational priorities. To succeed in this role, you must be detail-oriented, adaptable, and passionate about translating complex information into clear and meaningful communications that help Members navigate important life events with confidence.

As The Communications Specialist You Will

  • Research, write, edit, and adapt clear and engaging content for websites, educational materials, announcements, reports, and other communication channels.
  • Translate complex pension and disability information into accessible content for diverse audiences.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day maintenance and development of WCEBP's websites using established content management systems and workflows.
  • Develop and maintain website content, ensuring functionality, accessibility, and a positive user experience.
  • Create multimedia and digital content to support member engagement and communications initiatives.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, Information Systems staff, and internal stakeholders to plan and implement communications projects.
  • Support the development and execution of communication strategies for internal and external audiences.
  • Monitor website performance and member feedback, recommending improvements to enhance online services and accessibility.
  • Ensure all communications align with organizational standards, brand identity, and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1).
  • Stay current on communications, digital media, and web accessibility best practices and emerging trends.

Your Education And Qualifications Include

  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Creative Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Digital Media, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in communications, web content management, digital media, or a related field.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively.
  • Experience managing website content through content management systems; experience with Liferay is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1), usability principles, and SEO best practices.
  • Experience developing content for digital and multimedia platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and design/video editing software such as Adobe InDesign and Adobe Premiere.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
