Background

Iskwewak Awetowak Nipocawin (Women Leading Knowledge) is a brand-new Research Institute dedicated to supporting research and policy development for the health and well-being of Indigenous women, girls, Two-Spirit and gender-diverse kin. The Institute supports low-barrier research for Indigenous community members and welcomes community-led projects. We also have ongoing core intersectional and interdisciplinary research projects. Our work is guided by deep care and our responsibilities to our relations, past, present, and future.

The Knowledge Mobilization Coordinator Will Be Required To:

  • Support the development of research projects and research activities.
  • Contribute to the development of projects through literature reviews and knowledge synthesis.
  • Support the design, development, and mobilization of resources and research publications (blogs, workshops, social media campaigns, etc.). Your passions and skills can help shape the position and mobilization activities.
  • Build and sustain relationships with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community partners.
  • Organize and attend community engagement sessions and support project activities, including meetings and gatherings (online or in-person).

Qualifications And Experience

  • Ability to work collaboratively and creatively.
  • Willingness to work independently when required.
  • Ability to plan, organize and establish work priorities.
  • Willingness to learn and work on a wide range of projects.
  • Interest in Indigenous knowledges and strength-based research.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience in either research, consultation, or community engagement is an asset.
  • Education in either Indigenous studies, human rights, women and gender studies, history, or communications is an asset or a combination of education, lived experience and work experience is valued.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office 365 applications (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams etc.).
  • Must provide a current (within the last three months) criminal record with Vulnerable Sector Query, Child Abuse Registry check and be subject to Prior Contact Check.
