Senior Accountant

Our client is seeking a talented Senior Accountant to support their financial reporting and operational accounting functions for an initial term of 3 months, with a strong possibility of extension or conversion. Located 100% onsite at our Mississauga office, you will be a key contributor to the full cycle of accounting, maintaining rigorous internal controls, and providing the analytical support needed to drive regional growth. This is an ideal role for a CPA (or CPA candidate) who thrives in a high-volume environment, enjoys diving deep into complex reconciliations, and possesses strong ERP system optimization skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-Cycle Accounting: Execute the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes. Prepare accurate journal entries and working papers in compliance with IFRS/US GAAP.
- Team Support & Oversight: Support the Accounting Manager by providing guidance and oversight to junior team members (A/R, A/P) on complex transactions and SAP workflows.
- Audit Preparation: Prepare comprehensive audit schedules and supporting documentation for the annual external audit, acting as a key point of contact for auditor inquiries.
- Inventory & COGS Management: Analyze inventory valuation and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) within SAP. Collaborate closely with Warehouse teams to investigate cycle count discrepancies and ensure accuracy across multi-location inventory.
- Deductions & Cash Flow: Process and validate retailer deductions and chargebacks, collaborating with sales and operations teams to protect company cash flow.
- Data Integrity: Perform daily and monthly reconciliations to safeguard corporate assets and ensure the continuous integrity of financial data within the ERP.
- System Optimization: Drive SAP process improvements, including the optimization of transactional workflows, creation of custom variants, and utilization of reporting tools to automate manual processes.
- Tax Compliance: Prepare corporate tax compliance filings, including HST/GST returns using SAP’s tax modules, and support corporate tax installment calculations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Designation: CPA designation is highly preferred; candidates nearing completion will also be strongly considered.
- Experience: 4+ years of progressive accounting experience with a proven track record of handling complex reconciliations and full-cycle reporting.
- Industry Knowledge: Hands-on experience within a Manufacturing environment is required. A strong understanding of inventory and trade spend accounting is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in SAP ERP is required. Must possess expert-level Excel skills (including Power Query, Pivot Tables, and XLOOKUP).
- Work Arrangement: Ability to work full-time onsite at the Mississauga location.
