What We Expect

  • Provide technical support to the Project Manager throughout the lifecycle of elevator new installation & modernization projects, from site assessment through commissioning
  • Review technical drawings, layouts and equipment specifications, and translate them into actionable task lists for field teams
  • Conduct on-site technical surveys and pre-installation reviews to validate scope, identify constraints and surface engineering risks early
  • Partner with the Project Manager, field supervisors and engineering peers to balance technical requirements with operational and schedule constraints
  • Prepare and maintain submittals, RFIs, BOMs and equipment release packages, and track them through approval
  • Support options analysis and value engineering by modelling alternatives (equipment, controls, scheduling) and presenting trade-offs to the PM and customer
  • Identify, log and escalate engineering risks, non-conformances and field issues, and help drive resolution with vendors and internal stakeholders
  • Interpret applicable codes and standards (e.g. ASME A17.1 / CSA B44, local electrical and building codes) and flag compliance gaps to the PM
  • Support commissioning, testing and turnover activities and document as-built configurations
  • Maintain project documentation, schedules, dependencies and risk logs alongside the Project Manager
  • Assist with cost tracking, change orders and material take-offs from a technical standpoint
  • Contribute to continuous-improvement initiatives, lessons-learned reviews and engineering knowledge sharing across the team
  • Other duties as assigned

Who we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or related Engineering discipline (recent graduates encouraged to apply)
  • 0–2 years of relevant experience (co-op, internship or early-career) in elevators, building systems, construction or industrial equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams and equipment specifications
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical fundamentals; familiarity with elevator systems, motor controls or PLCs is a strong asset
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfort translating technical content for non-technical audiences
  • Curious, self-motivated learner with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a bias for action
  • Collaborative team player able to work effectively with project managers, field technicians, suppliers and customers
  • Exposure to AutoCAD, Revit or similar CAD tools, and an understanding of project cost and budget tracking, considered an asset
  • Proficient with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio); willingness to travel to project sites within the Halifax area.
