HVAC Maintenance Technician - HPC

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Maintenance Technician - HPC with expertise in supporting advanced cooling technologies in a high-density, mission-critical data center environment. The HVAC Maintenance Technician - HPC will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of HVAC and thermal management systems, including both traditional air handling and emerging liquid cooling infrastructure. This role is essential in ensuring uptime, efficiency, and stable environmental conditions within the data center.

Desired Skills, Qualifications and Competencies include

  • 5+ years HVAC experience in commercial, industrial, or mission-critical facilities (data center experience strongly preferred).
  • Knowledge of hydronic cooling systems, liquid distribution, and precision air handling.
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills in thermal systems and fluid dynamics.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Certifications

  • HVAC Journeyman License or equivalent
  • Experience with liquid cooling (L2C, immersion) preferred
  • CMMS or Work Order Management proficiency

Other Important Requirements

  • Pre-employment screening, including background check and substance testing may be required according to company policies.
  • Must provide own steel-toed work boots; other PPE will be supplied.
  • Must be able to reliably commute to the work site daily or have plans to relocate before starting work.

This role requires availability for a 4-on-4-off rotational shift schedule including day and night shifts. Candidates must be comfortable working overnight and maintaining productivity during off-peak hours

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform daily operations and preventative maintenance of HVAC systems, including:
  • Liquid-to-chip cooling systems (CDUs, manifolds, pumps)
  • BMS-integrated thermal control systems
  • Conduct routine inspections, monitor system performance, and respond to alarms or deviations (temperature, humidity, flow, pressure).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and thermal system issues in coordination with controls, electrical, and IT teams.
  • Assist with commissioning and testing of new cooling infrastructure during buildouts or retrofits.
  • Document all maintenance activities, system readings, and repairs in CMMS/work order systems.
  • Follow strict safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, and chemical handling protocols.
  • Support KPI tracking by reporting on system performance metrics (e.g., temperature delta, coolant flow, efficiency indicators).
