The Alice Saddy Association is seeking one Part-Time, Permanent Direct Support Professional to fill a vacancy on one of our teams. The ideal candidate will be available to work regular daytime hours, specifically Friday and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and will have the flexibility to pick up additional shifts as needed. Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Supports, the Direct Support Professional will promote and uphold the mission and values of the Alice Saddy Association while providing person directed, 1:1 support.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing individualized support that helps the person build skills, strengthen relationships, connect with their community, and live life to the fullest.
  • Demonstrating enthusiasm, creativity, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic.
  • Bring versatility and adaptability to provide individualized, consistent and responsive support.
  • Seeking out and facilitating opportunities to build and nurture relationships with family, friends, neighbours, and community members.
  • Providing personal care and daily living support using a “do with, not for” approach to promote independence.
  • Supporting participation in physical fitness and recreational activities, such as walking, swimming and going to the YMCA.
  • Teaching and supporting life skills, including taking the bus, navigating the community and building confidence in daily routines
  • Using strong communication skills to support literacy development, including reading
  • Teaching and assisting with technology, including iPhones and iPads.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a college diploma in Developmental Services Worker (DSW), Social Service Worker (SSW), Community Services Worker (CSW), Personal Support Worker (PSW), and/or a combination of education and experience.

Pre-Hire Requirements

Successful candidates must provide or complete the following:

  • Eligibility to work in Canada.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check specific to the Alice Saddy Association.
  • Three verifiable supervisory references.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
  • Safe Management or CPI certification (Crisis Intervention Training)
  • Valid driver’s licence, insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle.
