Do you have a passion for retail, customer service, and leading teams to success? Royal Botanical Gardens (RBG) is seeking a Retail Sales Lead to support the day-to-day operations of our Gift Shop while helping create an exceptional shopping experience for visitors from across the region and beyond.

In this hands-on leadership role, you will work closely with the Retail Store Manager to oversee daily operations, coach and support staff and volunteers, maintain high merchandising standards, and contribute to the success of one of Canada's premier botanical gardens and visitor destinations.

What You'll Bring

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in retail operations, customer service, merchandising, inventory management, purchasing, and team leadership gained through a combination of education, retail experience, and/or volunteer experience.
  • Experience supervising, coaching, motivating, and developing employees and volunteers.
  • Knowledge of sales performance monitoring, retail metrics, inventory control, merchandising standards, and visual presentation practices.
  • Experience with retail purchasing, vendor relationships, product selection, and data-informed decision-making.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements, loss prevention practices, and operational procedures.
  • Experience completing opening and closing procedures and preparing accurate sales, inventory, and operational reports.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong leadership, coaching, team building, and workforce planning skills, including scheduling and staff coordination.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong sales, merchandising, inventory management, and retail operations skills, with the ability to analyze performance metrics and support business goals.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency using point-of-sale systems, inventory management software, scheduling tools, Microsoft Office applications, and reporting systems.
