We are currently seeking a talented individual to join our Transportation team. This position is responsible for management of the planning, asset management, design and construction of transportation infrastructure and related projects carried out by the Transportation Engineering Branch. The focus of this position may be Highway or Aviation Design and Construction or bridge projects depending on Branch priorities and capacity.

Essential Qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume; ensure you use a month/year to month/year format and include the duties you performed in each of your positions.

  • University degree in Engineering with a focus on civil/structural or related discipline;
  • Qualified Engineer as defined by Engineers Yukon (preferably in the discipline of Civil Engineering) and must be registered with Engineers Yukon or licensed as a Professional Engineer in good standing in another Canadian engineering association with ability to obtain a license with Engineers Yukon;
  • Experience in Highway design and construction, including geometric alignments and culverts;
  • Experience in project management including planning, managing contracts, budgets and supervising technical, professional staff and consultants.

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

  • Ability to plan, develop, implement and evaluate projects on set deadlines;
  • Ability to establish strong and effective working relationships with senior management and other stakeholders;
  • Ability to plan, organize and lead the design and construction of highways and other structures related to transportation infrastructure projects;
  • Ability to plan, organize and lead medium to long term capital development plans.

Conditions of Employment

This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following condition(s) of employment:

Valid Yukon Class 5 Driver’s License; currently registered or eligible for registration with Engineers Yukon (EY) as a Professional Engineer.

Travel through the Yukon depending upon where projects are located.
