We are currently seeking a talented individual to join our Transportation team. The Senior Advisor is responsible for developing and providing strategies, recommendations and direction on engagement, consultation and accommodation with Indigenous groups for the Transportation Division. This position will collaborate with colleagues within the branch and other Yukon government departments to ensure that Indigenous groups are engaged and aware of projects and activities, working to deliver projects in a timely and effective manner. The work is fast paced, varied and requires the ability to manage and prioritize several projects and tasks on a busy schedule.

Essential Qualifications
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume; ensure you use a month/year to month/year format and include the duties for performed in each of your positions.
- Degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Resource Management, First Nations Studies, Law or related discipline
- Significant experience in negotiations, engagement and consultations with or for Indigenous groups
- Experience working directly with or for Indigenous groups
- Experience providing advice, information and recommendations to senior level management
Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
Desired knowledge, skills and suitability
The ideal candidate will possess these qualifications, skills and knowledge, but also demonstrate suitability for the role and organizational culture. Key competencies for success in this role include:
- Ability to exercise good judgment, decision making and problem solving
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as competency in facilitating workshops and public presentations
- Strong organization/project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to research and interpret Final Agreements, Self-Government Agreements, and Land Claim Agreements
- Knowledge of financial and procurement procedures
- Ability to work well independently and within a team environment under pressure Ability and familiarity in the use of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Outlook, Excel) and file management software
Conditions of Employment
This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following condition(s) of employment:
class 5 driver's licence or equivalent
Travel throughout the territory
