Job Title: EHS Advisor

Location: Calgary, AB

Length: 6 months (with potential extension)

Rotation: 14 days on/7 days off, 12 hours

Role Summary

Provides environmental, health, and safety (EHS) support to operations and field teams. Responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards while promoting a strong safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day EHS support to operations and field teams
  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial (e.g., Alberta OHS), and company requirements
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and hazard assessments
  • Lead incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented
  • Support WCB claims management and return-to-work programs
  • Deliver safety orientations, training sessions, and toolbox talks
  • Maintain and update EHS documentation, procedures, and reports
  • Monitor leading and lagging indicators; report on safety performance
  • Participate in risk assessments (JHAs, FLRAs, HAZIDs, etc.)
  • Support emergency response planning and drills
  • Engage workers and supervisors to reinforce safe work practices
  • Own the Health and Safety Management (HSM) Program and Emergency Response Program (ERP) at the site level

Role Scope

  • Ensures adherence to applicable regulations, standards, and internal policies
  • Supports operational safety, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Contributes to incident prevention through proactive hazard identification and control
  • Promotes workforce engagement and a strong safety culture across all levels of the organization
  • Provides guidance and coaching to supervisors and workers on safe work practices

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • 3–7+ years of EHS experience (midstream, oil & gas, or industrial experience preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of Alberta OHS legislation and applicable industry standards
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis
  • Familiarity with WCB processes and claims management
  • Professional designation (e.g., CRSP, NCSO) is an asset
