Seasonal Sales Assistant

Avens Gallery in Canmore is looking for a friendly, reliable, and locally based individual to join our team for the summer season!

This is a part-time seasonal role of approximately 20 hours per week, ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, appreciates art and beautiful spaces, and is comfortable creating a welcoming experience for visitors and clients. Sales experience is an asset, but we are also open to someone with the right attitude who is willing to learn.

About the Role

As a Gallery Sales Associate, you will support day-to-day gallery operations while helping customers feel welcome, informed, and comfortable. You will assist with sales, answer questions about artwork and artists, maintain the presentation of the gallery, and help ensure visitors have a positive experience.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

• Greeting and assisting gallery visitors in a warm and professional manner
• Learning about the artists and artwork represented by the gallery
• Supporting sales conversations with customers and collectors
• Processing purchases and assisting with administrative tasks
• Helping maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing gallery space
• Supporting inventory, displays, and general gallery operations as needed
• Representing Avens Gallery with professionalism and enthusiasm

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate is:

• Local to Canmore or able to commute
• Friendly, approachable, and comfortable speaking with customers
• Reliable, punctual, and professional
• Interested in art, design, tourism, or customer service
• Experienced in sales, retail, hospitality, or client service, or willing to learn
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a small team
• Available for part time summer work, including weekends

Location: Avens Gallery, Canmore, Alberta

Schedule: Part time, approximately 20 hours per week

Term: Summer seasonal position

Experience: Sales experience preferred, but not required

Compensation: $22.50/hour
