Job Title
Custom Cabinetry Sales Consultant – Design Experience Preferred
Role Description
Urban Vista Cabinets is hiring a full-time Custom Cabinetry Sales Consultant for our office and showroom in Port Coquitlam, BC.
This role is not only about welcoming clients and introducing products. More importantly, it requires the ability to understand client needs and guide them through the full sales process, from initial inquiry, needs assessment, material and style consultation, proposal follow-up, and final contract signing.
We are looking for someone with strong sales awareness, customer service skills, and communication abilities. Experience in interior design, kitchen design, custom cabinetry, millwork, furniture, building materials, home renovation, construction, or real estate will be considered a strong asset.
This role requires close communication with our design, production, and installation teams to ensure that client requirements are accurately communicated, project timelines are clear, and the overall client experience remains smooth and professional.
What You Will Do
1. Client Communication & Lead Conversion
Follow up with company-provided leads, including inquiries from the website, social media, phone calls, showroom visits, and referrals.
Understand each client’s project needs, budget range, space conditions, style preferences, and timeline, and guide them from initial consultation to quotation, design confirmation, and contract signing.
Proactively follow up with potential clients, maintain client relationships, and improve conversion rates.
2. Product & Design Consultation
Clearly introduce Urban Vista’s custom cabinetry products, materials, craftsmanship, hardware, door styles, colours, countertops, and overall design options to clients.
Assist clients with preliminary style direction, material selection, and functional requirement planning.
Help turn unclear or general client ideas into clear and actionable project requirements.
3. Site Measurement & Space Understanding
Arrange or participate in on-site measurements as needed, and communicate with clients, designers, or installation teams to confirm site conditions.
Understand basic dimensions, space layouts, and feasibility requirements related to custom cabinetry.
Experience with CAD, kitchen design software, space planning, or reading drawings will be considered an asset.
4. Quotation & Project Follow-Up
Assist in organizing client requirements and work with the design and production teams to prepare quotations, communicate project details, and confirm project scope.
Follow up on client feedback and address questions related to pricing, materials, timelines, installation, and project details.
Guide clients toward confirming the design, signing the contract, and making the deposit.
5. Cross-Department Coordination
Act as a communication bridge between clients, the design team, production team, and installation team to ensure accurate information flow.
Follow key project stages, including design confirmation, production scheduling, timeline communication, installation preparation, and after-sales feedback.
Identify potential issues in advance, such as dimension conflicts, material lead times, site condition changes, or client requirement changes, and coordinate solutions in a timely manner.
6. Client Relationship & Business Development
Build and maintain long-term relationships with homeowners, interior designers, builders, contractors, developers, and other industry partners.
Develop and maintain referral channels to help the company build a stable local client network.
Qualifications
1. Sales Experience
Experience in sales, client consultation, customer service, or business development is required.
Experience in custom cabinetry, millwork, furniture, building materials, kitchen design, interior design, home renovation, construction, or real estate is preferred.
2. Communication Skills
Fluent English communication skills, with the ability to independently handle client consultations, needs assessment, quotation explanations, and follow-up.
Strong listening, presentation, negotiation, and decision-driving skills.
The ability to communicate with clients in additional languages besides English will be considered an asset.
3. Design Understanding
You do not need to be a professional designer, but you should have a basic understanding of home spaces, kitchens, closets, materials, and overall design coordination.
Experience in interior design, kitchen design, cabinetry design, CAD, space planning, or reading drawings will be considered an asset.
4. Project Coordination Ability
Able to stay organized, detail-oriented, and clear-minded while managing multiple clients and projects at the same time.
Responsible and proactive in following up on issues rather than waiting for others to push the process forward.
Able to adapt to the realities of the custom manufacturing industry, including changing client needs, site condition changes, and timeline coordination.
5. Basic Requirements
Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
Must hold a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation for client site visits or project-related visits as needed.
This is a 100% on-site position based at our Port Coquitlam office and showroom. Remote work is not available.
Compensation & Perks
We offer a competitive base wage, with project-based commission opportunities depending on experience and performance.
Free on-site parking, team events, and employee discounts on cabinetry for personal home projects are available.
Compensation will be discussed based on the candidate’s sales experience, industry background, design understanding, and overall fit for the role.
Who We Are Looking For
We are not simply looking for someone who can talk.
We are looking for someone who can listen to client needs, understand space-related challenges, drive projects forward, and help turn initial inquiries into real completed projects in clients’ homes.
The ideal candidate should be a listener, a planner, and a closer:
Someone who can understand what the client truly wants;
Someone who can organize those needs into a clear and actionable direction;
And someone who can guide the client toward making decisions and signing the contract.
