DataNB
DataNB is a research institute at the University of New Brunswick and the sole provincial administrative data repository in New Brunswick. We house privacy-protected population-level data, which we use to conduct research that supports informed policy- and decision making to promote the health and social prosperity of New Brunswickers. DataNB offers consultation and research services to a variety of stakeholders such as various government departments, NGOs and academic researchers in different research streams like education, health and economic policy research. In order to conduct this research services, DataNB follows specific steps and procedures in privacy management, data access, data analysis, reporting, monitoring and evaluation.

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per week
Salary Range: $59,696 - $81,360 per annum (pre-July 1 economic adjustment)
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Research Manager, the Research Assistant supports the researchers and data analysts in conducting in-depth literature searches, preparing comprehensive reviews, applying quantitative/qualitative research methodologies, supporting quantitative, mixed methods research and evaluation projects, facilitating project coordination and logistics, and generating outputs, such as graphs and tables, suitable for incorporation into publications and reports.
Conduct in-depth literature searches and prepare comprehensive reviews.
Provide methodological assistance to researchers and data analysts.
Assist data analysts in data stewardship functions including data validation and documentation.
Participate in the planning, development, and implementation of research and training initiatives.
Prepare drafts of research abstracts, statistical charts, and posters for presentation at local and national conferences.
Provide support in preparing research proposals, data access applications, Research Ethics Board (REB) applications, vetting requests.
Create graphs and tables for research reports and scientific manuscripts for academic publication.
Follow all project management processes as required, including the use of required project. documentation/forms and project management software.
Extract data from local and national data registries and perform basic data analysis and interpretations.
Liaise with research sponsors, funding agencies, Research Ethics Board (REB) and various other departments to ensure all necessary regulatory and logistical support is in place.
Perform other duties as directed.
WHAT YOU BRING
University degree with a focus on training in health sciences, economics or statistics.
Previous experience working in a research environment.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Strengths
A Masters in a related field is considered a strong asset.
Knowledge, skills and experience in preparing grant applications for research studies.
Excellent knowledge of MS Office and statistical software.
Demonstrated ability to self-start, make decisions and problem solve
Experience with evaluation projects and mixed methods research projects
Experience with NVivo or similar qualitative data analysis software.
Experience with Statistic Canada and other microdata sets in a research environment.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
French language skills are considered an asset.
