Oceanic Iron Ore Corporation (the “Company” or “Oceanic”) is a development stage mining Company in Canada. Oceanic is listed on the TSX Venture exchange, and is focused on the development of the Ungava Bay iron properties in Nunavik, Quebec. The properties comprise three project areas: Hopes Advance, Morgan Lake and Roberts Lake which cover over 300 kilometers of iron formation and are located within 20 – 50 km of tidewater. Having recently raised over $50 million in financing, the Company is poised to advance Hopes Advance in earnest.

Our Vancouver head office has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Senior Accountant to join our finance team. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the successful candidate will be a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes ownership of their work. This is a full- cycle accounting role suited to someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves across AP, statutory filings, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, deadline-driven, and capable of managing competing priorities with minimal supervision. Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach are essential to success in this role.
Responsibilities
• Process full-cycle accounts payable, including invoice coding, vendor payment runs, and supplier statement reconciliations, in an accurate and timely fashion
• Prepare and file GST/HST and QST returns accurately and on time, maintaining supporting documentation and reconciling tax accounts
• Administer semi-monthly payroll processing
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations across multiple accounts and ensure timely resolution of reconciling items
• Prepare and post monthly journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, and intercompany transactions
• Support month-end and quarter-end close processes, including preparation of working papers and variance analysis
• Assist with preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS
• Meet monthly and quarterly reporting deadlines
• Support external audit processes by preparing working paper packages and responding to audit queries
• Post-secondary degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, with a minimum of 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience in a corporate environment
• CPA designation or active enrollment in the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) strongly preferred
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with full-cycle accounts payable, including vendor management and payment processing
• Working knowledge of Canadian indirect tax compliance, including preparation and filing of GST/HST and QST returns
• Strong proficiency in MS Office 365, with intermediate to advanced Excel skills
• Solid analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
• Effective communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across departments
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet competing deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision
• Experience with a medium to large ERP system is an asset
• Prior experience in the mining, natural resources, or exploration sector is considered an asset
• Familiarity with IFRS reporting standards and public company disclosure requirements is an asset
