About The YKDA And The Program Manager Role
The YKDA serves the community of Yellowknife by providing high-quality early childhood education
through developmentally and culturally appropriate, play-based, inclusive programming. The Program
Manager reports to the Executive Director and the position’s responsibilities include:
- providing leadership for, and managing, day-to-day programs and operations;
- ensuring the safe operation of YKDA facilities and the safety of its staff and members;
- communicating with parents, staff, and external partners and service providers; and
- assisting the Executive Director with various administrative tasks.
The YKDA operates in a new purpose-built facility with nine classrooms, a dedicated staff room, full
commercial kitchen, an office, and three outdoor play areas that serve up to 104 children aged 1 to 4 years
old. The YKDA also manages a separate facility with 30 afterschool children 4 to 8 years old.

- completion of post-secondary education in a relevant field
- competency with Microsoft Office and Google Drive
- strong verbal and written communication skills
- proven interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills
- cultural awareness
- an understanding of relevant legislation and best practices in early childhood education.
Compensation And Benefits
The YKDA offers a competitive benefits package and salary, ranging from $70,000 to $80,000 per year in
addition to support for professional development. Salary is negotiable based on qualifications and
experience.
