Mechanical Engineer

itec group has partnered with a industrial machinery supplier, delivering rugged complex machinery and are seeking a technically strong Mechanical Engineer to support customers.
The Mechanical Engineer is the primary point of contact for clients, the role combines engineering experience with machine integration with strong customer service skills to support installations, troubleshoot equipment, training clients on repairs, and resolving client equipment issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as primary technical contact for assigned customers: respond to service requests, diagnose problems, and propose corrective actions.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, control systems on heavy equipment both remotely and on site; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Lead commissioning activities at customer sites; validate performance against specifications.
- Coordinate warranty claims, repairs, and spare parts logistics with production, engineering and supply chain.
- Prepare clear service reports, site documentation, and defect/repair records; update service and maintenance logs.
- Work with engineering and design teams to translate field feedback into design improvements, retrofits and engineering change orders.
- Deliver customer training and operator support for safe operation, routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
- Support scheduled maintenance programs and recommend maintenance improvements.
- Manage multiple service calls and prioritize tasks to minimize customer downtime.
- Maintain awareness of safety, regulatory and contractual obligations during field operations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent technical experience.
- 3- 10 years experience in design/build and service/support of heavy industrial equipment, OEM environment preferred.
- Hands on experience with mechanical systems (hydraulics, bearings, gearboxes), electrical controls diagnostics.
- Proven field service experience: commissioning, troubleshooting, and onsite repairs.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills; comfortable interacting with operators, maintenance staff and senior customer stakeholders.
- Valid driver’s license for travel to customer sites (domestic and occasional international travel as required).
Technical Skills
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Hands on skills with power tools; experience working with safety equipment.
- Experience with service management systems, CMMS or CRM for tracking service tickets and parts.
Location: Kitchner,ON
Salary Range: $70,000 - $100,000
